The Joy-Seeking Joy Even In The Pain

As many of you know, I’ve written two books. I began writing after my ex left following a 37-year marriage, a time when I felt devastated and completely lost in this new reality. My first book explores the raw pain and confusion of that period. The second focuses on navigating the logistics of the divorce process. My upcoming third book will center on a more uplifting theme—Joy.

I remember that even in the depths of my depression during the early days of separation and divorce, I was quietly searching for joy. I’m not sure I fully realized it then, but I was. My goal, beyond simply getting through each day, was to seek God’s beauty amid the pain. And in that pursuit, joy naturally followed.

Early in the process, I wrote this poem to express what I was feeling…

I believe that in discovering God’s beauty and embracing joy, we also find hope. They truly go hand in hand. When we look beyond the pain and reach for hope, joy can naturally follow.

As I embark on exploring joy, I’ll be sharing my discoveries here on the blog. There are countless ways joy can enter our lives, and this will be the heart of my upcoming third book.

My next post on joy will explore the meaning of the word itself. I’d love to hear your thoughts—please share your feedback in the comments or send me a note at kathieyvwriter@gmail.com.

I wish you joy in your journey!
