If You Could Design Your Perfect Life, What Would It Look Like For You?

Journal Prompt-If you could design your perfect life, what would it look like for you?

When I consider what a perfect life looks like, I can’t help but reflect on my life before and after divorce. Before divorce, I viewed my life through the lens of commitment—commitment to my marriage and my vows to God. During that time, I was clearly not the focus; my ex’s career path took center stage, and my own goals and dreams were set aside. I worked in a field I didn’t enjoy, simply to support his ambitions. Looking back, it saddens me that my life then wasn’t truly mine. I was an afterthought, shaped by someone else’s perception rather than accepted for who I really am. Throughout it all, my love for my daughters has remained steadfast, and the joy brought by my grandchildren has been an indescribable blessing.

There may not be a “perfect life,” but I know what makes life feel perfect for me. Moving forward from my divorce, the one thing I hold close and cherish is the love I have for my daughters and grandchildren—they are the true joy in my life and the heart of my new version of perfection.

What else brings me joy? Writing has become my passion and purpose, and helping others navigate the challenges of divorce gives my life deep meaning. I’m embracing day trips and travel, finding happiness in my cozy apartment that truly feels like home.

Relationships are the cornerstone of my happiness, especially the love and support shared with my best friend and boyfriend, Rocky. Together, we celebrate life’s moments and find joy in each day.

I’m content and fulfilled in this new chapter, no longer an afterthought but fully myself. Looking ahead, I dream of growing my business, owning a cozy home, expanding my circle of friends, deepening connections with family, exploring new places, and giving joy to those I love. For now, my life is “perfect” because I’m happy, content, and authentically me.
