This is a blast from the past. I wrote this July 1, 2013. Written less then one month after my husband filed for legal separation without a word to me. I was blindsided.
Songs of Comfort…Blessings by Laura Story
I have cried so many tears these last few weeks. In all my sorrow I have done my best to lean on God. I listened to a song today by Laura Story…Blessings. The lyrics seemed to hit home with me today.
“Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the achings of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise”
Made me cry all over again. Such a beautiful song.
Today Aug. 2017
I published that post just over four years ago. I again listened to “Blessings” by Laura Story. As I listened, many of the painful emotions caused by betrayal began to flood my memory and pierce my heart. As I recall the pain, I also remember the blessing. The blessing that God walks beside us and gives us support, courage and hope. The blessing that God can take our deepest pain and turn it into something good. Thank you, God!
